No have no idea how good it makes me feel to find your site. All of my life I have been overweight. At first, I thought that it was because I was too into food. "Do you ever think about anything other than food?" was what my mother asked on a daily basis. So I tried so hard not to think about food, but it always came back with a vengence. Thinking back I now cringe at the 2 cups of white rice with 2 chicken buillions I used to eat for dinner. When I moved away to college and away from the nagging, my choices of foods expanded, but I still gain that dreaded freshmen 15 (and plus some). However, at my father's insistance that I see a career counselor, I stumbled upon food science. It was a dream combination for my love of food and science. As I now work towards the completion of my masters, like you, I have been researching healthy alternatives than how I used to live. After just living on my own for one year and taking some small steps, I have lost 30 pounds (back to my old high school weight!) and have incorporated more veggies and whole grains in my diet. I still have a ways to go, but after finding your site, I feel as if my inspiration to succeed as grown, with all these new and helpful tools that you have provided. I now use my fascination with food to hunt out new healthy and delicious foods and better ways to improve them and nurish my body. I know it must sound odd for me to spill out my life's story, but I just wanted to let you know that you have been a great inspiration to me. I can't wait until I get to buy your book! Keep up the great work!

I bookmarked your site several months ago, and stumbled upon it again today. After reading your food philosphy, I now remember why I saved it in my Favorites in the first place. It's a shame the American perspective on body image, as well as how and what to eat, is so skewed. Thanks for spreading a healthy message!
