Ancient Secrets for Healthy Eating

Lemon for Lemon WaterE ver wonder if ancient diet and eating secrets could be the missing link to being healthier and more fit?

Well, in the latest blog by my friend and fellow healthy food lover Tula, she does just that, testing out some old Ayurvedic eating tips that I passed on to her for her weekly blog on “The Best of Life” Blog.

Check out the three quick fixes I gave her, including ones that I’ll share with you now. “The key to being healthier starts with balance.” Might sound obvious, but maybe you can be more balanced – here’s three easy swaps to help you regain your balance, restore and hopefully refresh.

  • Feeling nervous and stressed? Just for two days swap that afternoon coffee with a steaming cup of lemon water. Lemon is considered an “ayurvedic” cleaner for your inside and drinking too much caffeine can intensify stress and disrupt that precious night’s sleep.
  • Want to have a healthier glow in the dead of winter? Add one extra cup of lightly steamed veggies to your lunch and dinner, like spinach, broccoli, broccoli rabe, and carrots. Fresh fruits and veggies are considered energy octane full of life force that doesn’t come pre-packaged, frozen, or off a dollar menu.
  • Having tummy troubles? Go simple, try eating a simple brown rice veggie bowl. Combine an assortment of steamed veggies with brown rice. Top with chopped fresh herbs like basil or cilantro. Bad eating habits can throw off the digestive “fire” as they call it in Ayurveda.

    Hey Jen!

Thanks for these additional tips, which I’ll incorporate into my diet as well. The whole balance thing is key, in diet, exercise, life! Just being aware helps with balance, too. I think a lot of imbalance comes from not being mindful of our choices and forgetting that we actually have a choice.
