Entwine: A New Wine That Pairs Itself

Jennifer Iserloh with Karl WenteThe Food Network recently launched their new line of wines under the “Entwine” label, partnering up with Wente California Vineyards.

When I attended their launch party in New York a few weeks ago, the Food Network chefs’ cooked up a wonderful storm of appetizers to match each bottle – and Karl Wente, a 5th generation wine maker, shared his exciting news with me firsthand.

These very drinkable wines also have handy labels that give you possible pairings for each variety, from Chardonnay to Merlot – a boon for foodies who want to learn more about wine:

  • Cabernet Sauvignon: Rich, fruity, and herbaceous – like eating raspberry jam off of a sprig of thyme.
  • Pinot Grigio: Crisp, refreshing, and citrusy, like a green apple drizzled with lime juice and honey.
  • Chardonnay: Easy-drinking, with crisp fall fruit – think toast spread with homemade apple butter.
  • Merlot: Juicy and mouthwatering – think mid-summer plums and cherries, with a hint of black tea.
