Skinny Chef Recipes That Kids Love

Healthy Kid-Friendly Recipes Even For Picky EatersCooking healthy meals for kids might seem like a challenge but building a recipe collection of go-to meals can mean food that everyone will eat and a whole less stress.

Once you arm yourself with these easy kid-friendly recipes that I’ve tested on many clients, friends, and family members with picky kids, your worries will be over.

Buttermilk Chicken Fingers

Why They Love It: Kids go gonzo for chicken fingers, but who wants all the fat that comes in the take-out version? This version that’s pan-cooked and then baked means a lot less oil. Since they’re soaked in buttermilk, they are super tender like the take-out, but made with real chicken meat.

Turkey Burger

Healthy Kid-Friendly RecipesWhy They Love It: You can mini-fy turkey burgers, just mold the meat into smaller patties and serve on small dinner rolls. Turkey is incredibly low in fat, yet high in protein. I add milk to make these as moist as the beef version with a lot less saturated fat.

Fish Fingers

Why They Love It: Most of the kids that have tested this recipe think it’s softer chicken fingers. They appreciate the delicate texture of fish that they can hold in their hands. I use Tilapia because it doesn’t have a strong fishy odor and is white and flaky.

Orange Sherbet

Why They Love It: Kids are gaga for popsicles and this one looks like the store-bought version. It’s creamy because of the yogurt, but even kids who don’t love the texture of yogurt will like this frozen treat that’s made by blending in orange juice.

Grilled Cheese with Turkey

Why They Love It: Kinds love gooey melted cheese, and so do adults! This version has a lot more protein from the turkey, but less fat because of part skim mozzarella that melts as well as full fat cheese.

Mac and Cheese

Why They Love It: Everyone loves pasta and cheese, but this version is a lot leaner with reduced fat cheese and skim milk. Just stir in chunks of chicken to make it a high-protein meal.

Avocado Chocolate Milkshake

Why They Love It: This chocolate shake pours like cream and tastes like rich dark chocolate, who would guess that there’s avocado. It’s one of the most amazing recipes on the site…
