Classic Guacamole

In one of my latest videos on Prevention Magazine’s website, I explained how to make a quick, spicy guacamole that gets its kick from jalapeno, red onion and plenty of lime juice.

To make the perfect guacamole, I recommend Hass avocadoes, also referred to as alligator pears due to their knobbly exterior. Give them a quick squeeze to make see if they are ripe.

Also make sure that you remove the seeds from the tomatoes, so that the guacamole doesn’t get watery. Skip the garlic, but add lots of fresh lime juice along with a little bit of zest – this gives the dish plenty of flavor without any fat and calories.

Finally, open a bag of whole grain chips – your appetizer is ready to go! Click here to get my recipe for classic guacamole »
