Skinny Chef Recipes That Kids Love

Cooking healthy meals for kids might seem like a challenge, but building a recipe collection of go-to meals can mean food that everyone will eat and a whole less stress. Once you arm yourself with these easy kid-friendly recipes that I’ve tested on many clients, friends, and family members with picky kids, your worries will be over. Guaranteed.

Quinoa Risotto

Risotto is prized for its creamy texture and rich taste. Quinoa is naturally creamy and makes a lighter, whole grain version of this popular Italian comfort food. Spinach adds extra nutrition and flavor.

Orange Sherbet

This healthy version of orange sherbet reminds me of the ‘push-up’ pops I used to have as a kid that were filled with creamy sherbet, refreshingly cool during the hot summer months.

Pineapple Salsa

Sweet, salty, and spicy, this pineapple salsa is a great way to dress up any plain jane dish. If you prefer more heat in your salsa, you can add one chopped jalapeño.

Mini Cashew Cookies

Nut butters are great for making baked goods and sauces. I love the sweet mellow taste of cashews, but if cashew butter is not in your budget, replace it with peanut butter instead.

Citrus Smoothie

Smoothies can be a no-mess way to get in vital nutrients that you may be lacking in your everyday diet, like vitamin C and calcium. They are superfast to whip up and the creamy texture can help fight cravings for sweets and frozen treats.

Snow Peas with Orange Zest and Garlic

Anyone who has minimal cooking experience will like this recipe – even my husband, the reluctant cook. Just be sure not to overcook the snow peas.

Turkey Bolognese

I love Parmesan but if you’re on a tight budget tangy Romano cheese is an ideal substitute at half the price. I use reduced fat cream cheese in place of heavy cream that usually appears in the traditional version.
