I cherish my small apartment that is part of a brownstone condo complex – not only because it has tons of personally, but because I also happen to have great neighbors.
Susan lives literally “right next door” and she’s always there to lend a lemon or anything at all when I’m in need. So this week, we decided to go out for drinks to get a breather from our busy schedules and catch up on the latest happenings in each other’s lives.
“Ginger?” I asked after she told me that she often chews and swallows a 1-inch piece of fresh ginger whenever she gets a bout of heartburn.
I know that ginger has been used often to calm nausea but I’ve never heard it used in this way as a cure for heartburn. I get occasional heartburn, so I wanted to give this folk remedy a try now that heartburn had suddenly flared up this morning.
I took a 1/2-inch thick slice of ginger, trimmed off the skim, and cut it in three pieces. On an empty stomach, I chewed each piece separately and swallowed. Pretty strong and spicy! Now I’ll always tell people to check with their doctors if they have any health issues, but I have to say that, for me, Suzie’s ginger trick cured my heartburn!

I have been using ginger for about three years. I was diagnosed with Gerd and so many of the medications I tried just did not work for me, a friend of mine told me of the ginger and I use whenever I need it, an absolute lifesaver. I would suggest it to anyone…..checked with my doctor and his comment was, can’t hurt you.
