Frozen cherries are a great fruit to keep on hand for snacks and quick desserts! Ideal for smoothies, cherries are naturally sweet, the frozen whole black cherries are fairly inexpensive, and store for months in your freezer. If you use fresh cherries, chill before serving.
Serves 2
1 cup frozen or fresh black sweet pitted cherries
1 cup non-fat, plain yogurt or kefir
4 ice cubes
1/4 cup toasted whole almonds
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoon ground golden flax
In a blender combine cherries, yogurt or kefir, ice cubes, almonds, almond extract, sugar, and flax.
The recipe featured above goes nicely with Zucchini Cake and Blini.

I freeze the yogurt and used frozen mixed berries and used 1 teaspoon of Splenda instead of sugar. As usual I loved this recipe and it tastes just great.
